World-class Performances & Entertainment

Originally built to be a movie palace, The Stanley Theatre opened on September 10, 1928, with 2,963 seats. Constructed in just 13 months, it was designed by Thomas Lamb, a Scottish-born, American architect who is considered to be one of the foremost designers of theaters and cinemas in the 20th century. His buildings include the Fox Theatre in San Francisco and the Capitol Theatre in New York, both now demolished. The Stanley Theatre in Utica is one of three remaining Lamb theaters in Upstate New York, along with Proctors Theatre in Schenectady and the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse.

Today, the Stanley Theatre is host to shows presented by Broadway Utica as well as several promoters. Recent theatrical and musical performances include: REO Speedwagon, Tony Bennett, Jerry Seinfeld, Once, Beach Boys, Hadestown, Chicago, Dark Star Orchestra, Styx, Halestrom, and Jersey Boys!
